· Homework includes journals, study guides, prewriting packets, and designated assignments — not essays or speeches.
· Homework may be turned in late with a late coupon and only if absence is excused.

T I M E D W R I T I N G
· In order to make up a missed timed writing, the absence must be excused.
· You have one week to make-up your timed writing.
· After the week is up, you will not receive points for the timed writing, but will receive a rubric score.

S P E E C H E S
· In order to make-up a missed speech for points, your absence must be excused.
· The speech will be given the day you return.
· An uncleared absence merits no credit.
· If not prepared on your assigned speech day, you will not receive higher than 60% but will receive a regular rubric score.
· If speech is 10 seconds under time or 10 seconds overtime, you will be docked 10 points.
· Speeches under time need to be made up in order to fulfill the competency.
