* ALL MATH COURSES REQUIRE TEACHER SIGNATURE ON FORM.

M148 Sheltered Math 1S:This is a 2 quarter course which covers basic math skills for students who have limited English proficiency.

M948 Sheltered Math Lab: This sequence of 2 quarter courses is for the student who is limited English proficient and who is not yet ready for a mainstream math course. All work will be done independently and cover material including Math A, Basic Algebra, Algebra 1C, Algebra 2C, or higher.

M302, M312 Basic Algebra 1S, 3S: (2 terms) This is a 4 quarter algebra course designed for the vocationally oriented student. The course is also of value for students who seek a college degree but whose math skills may not be strong enough to handle the speed of the 1 year algebra course. Completion of this 1S-4S sequence meets the UC/CSU ìCî requirements as Algebra 1C.

M400 Algebra 1C: This is a 2 quarter course in Algebra emphasizing problem solving, equations, and graphing. It is for the college bound student. To take this course you should have good ability in math, C's or better in math, and a readiness to work. This course meets the UC/CSU ìCî requirements.

M410 Algebra 1H: (2 quarter/also summer) This course covers the material of Algebra 1C and more. Topics are covered with a mathematical rigor much beyond that of Algebra 1C. To take this course you should be mathematically talented and have an excellent grade record in math. This course meets the UC/CSU ìCî requirements.

M322, M932 Basic Geometry 1S, 3S: A 2 year, 4 term sequence in Euclidean geometry which gives students the same experience as Geometry 1C over a 2 year period. Students who do especially well in Basic Geometry 1S and 2S should be directed into Geometry 1C to get use to the pacing of the standard college prepatory course work. This sequence of geometry courses meets the CSU/UC ìCî requirements. Prerequisite: Basic Algebra 1S/2S and Basic Algebra 3S/4S or students with low grades in Algebra 1C. Constraint: Students who are successful in Algebra 1C should be programmed into Geometry 1C.Ý Completion of this 1S-4S sequence meets the UC/CSU ìCî requirements as Geometry 1C.

M420 Geometry 1C: This is a 2 quarter course in geometry emphasizing problem solving for college bound students. To take this course you should have passed Algebra 1 with C's or better. This course meets the UC/CSU ìCî requirements.

M430 Geometry 1H: This is a traditional 2 quarter course in Euclidian Geometry for motivated students having above average math skills. Proof, standard two and three dimensional relationships, coordinate geometry, and introductory trigonometry are emphasized. To take this course you should be mathematically talented and have an excellent grade record in math and teacher recommendation. This course meets the UC/CSU ìCî requirements.

M440 Algebra 2C: This is a 2 quarter course that will greatly expand your ability in Algebra with heavy emphasis on problem solving and the use of the graphing calculator. It is for the college bound student. To take this course you should have passed Geometry 1C with ìCîs or better. This course meets the UC/CSU ìCî requirements.

M450 Algebra 2H: (2 quarter or summer) - This a traditional Algebra 2H course for motivated students having above average math skills. Problem solving, equations, sequences and series, and trigonometry are emphasized. To take this course you should be mathematically talented and have an excellent grade record in math and teacher recommendation. This course meets the UC/CSU ìCî requirements.

M520 Pre-Calculus 1H 1-2: This is a 2 quarter course which prepares students interested in highly technical fields like engineering, physics, computer science, and math and who must take a rigorous course in calculus. Content includes polynomial, exponential, log, and trig functions, sequences and series, linear algebra, and coordinate geometry. ìBî or better in Algebra 2C.

M550/M560 AP Calculus AB/BC:Ý This 4 quarter course is designed for the advanced math student who desires an introduction to college calculus.Ý We will be covering the foundations of both differential and integral calculus.Ý Students are prepared to take the AB or BC advance placement exam. Prerequisite: Pre-Calculus.

M565 Statistics w/Data Analysis 1C: This 2 quarter course is designed for students who are interested in non-technical college fields such as psychology, sociology, business, and health. It covers random variable statistics, as well as financial mathematics, stock market investing, linear programming and probability. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra 2C.

M570 AP Statistics: This 2 quarter course is an ideal course for juniors and seniors who are interested in college majors such as psychology, sociology, health science, and business. The course is equivalent to an introductory, non-calculus based college course and will additionally focus on preparation for the AP Exam in May. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra 2C.

Y536 Computer Programming 1H: This is a 2 quarter computer programming course for the college-bound student. Students will learn to develop algorithms to solve problems, to write programs, and to diagnose errors in the algorithms and their programs. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra II (or concurrent enrollment) or consent of instructor. This course meets the University of California ìFî requirement.

Y560 Advanced Placement Computer Sciences 1H: This is a 2 quarter course intended to serve both as an introductory course for computer science majors and as a substantial service course for people who will major in other disciplines that require significant involvement with computing. The major emphasis is an Advanced Placement Computer Science course in on programming methodology, algorithms, and data structures. Applications of computing provide the context in which these subjects are treated. Applications are used to develop student awareness of the need of particular algorithms and data structures as well as to provide topics for programming assignments to which students can apply their knowledge. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra II (or concurrent enrollment) and concurrent enrollment in Computer Programming 1C or consent of instructor. This course meets the University of California ìFî requirement.
