Educational Background
All this brainwashing occured in Diamond Bar, where I attended CastleRock Elementary, Evergreen Elementary, Chapparrel Junior High and then Diamond Bar High School. By that time I was more then happy to exchange the "cow dung" aroma of my youth for that of the sand and surf. UC San Diego called me down south, where I spent the next 4 years studying as a Communication major. (I am convinced that this was the only major on campus that MADE you watch Disney films, and then rip them to shreds. I'll never look at "The Little Mermaid " in the same way again) I graduated in 1993 and took a year off to work in the 'real world'. However, now I'm back in school working on a Masters in Educational Technology at San Diego State University.
Work Experience
I am Queen of Computer Labs. For the past 3 years I was the "Computer Lady" (aka computer lab TA) at Memorial Academy Junior High in Logan Heights. Now I work at Helix High School as the Laptop Computer TA.
I also work part-time for Kreative Kids Computer Camps in Poway. I am the instructor for the computer camps that are offered during the summer and holiday breaks. I'm also one of the instructors for the adult training classes that are offered in the evenings and on weekends.
Interests, Activities & Plans
I want to be a member of Charlie's Angels and have a guest spot on The Love Boat/CHiPs/Dukes of Hazard. That would be heaven. To eat at the Capitain's table , slow dance with Gopher ride in the General Lee. Oh man. However, even I know that dreams like that rarely come true. So I have my sight set on other things.... a back up plan you might say...
When I finish with my Masters, I would love to get my Teaching Credentials and teach technology courses. I would also like to take some graphic arts classes. Or I might freelance as a computer/technology trainer for both adults and children. I guess the bottom line is that whatever I end up doing, it's going to deal with computers and technology in some way shape and form. I have crossed the line and there is no turning back. I'm a Techno-Weenie and proud of it!
Other Interesting Things
I LOVE... Love Movie Soundtracks.... Most of my CD collection is comprised of soundtracks.. .Crooklyn, Dazed and Confused, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford is the best!) , StarWars, Prisilla Queen of the Desert (great disco), Saturday Night Fever, Grease I and Grease II, Beautiful Girls, and ALL the Disney soundtracks. I also love musicals soundtracks.... Evita, Phantom of the Opera, Funny Girl, My Fair Lady, Man of La Mancha, etc etc. Actually anything that is terribly fun to sing to and annoy my roomate with is okee-dokee by me.
Other fun things to pass the time with; Movies, movies and more movies!!! MadLibs, ConnectFour, MilleBornes (the BEST card game on the planet), Predicting the future with my Magic 8 Ball and the Oujia Board. Roaming around Tower Records and Toys R Us is also a pretty keen way to pass the time! :) I also love to read anything I can get my hands on. I collect Nany Drew books (she was the best!!!) and I am always on the prowl in used book stores.
