Health Product
Corporations
Many companies are in the business
of developing and marketing products that are used to help maintain
or improve human health. These companies make a wide variety of
products that include pharmaceuticals, diagnostic tests or tools,
medical equipment, and genetically engineered products. Many of these
companies have offices in San Diego. Since many students may
eventually work for some of these companies, this unit of the SEPA
program will introduce students to corporate structures, common
departments and duties, financial structures, the products and
markets and the general organization of companies that are in
business to make a profit.
SEPA students have worked directly
with Alliance Pharmaceutical Corporation. In addition, they have
attended a high technology fair organized by the San Diego Science
Alliance and the consortium of San Diego Area Members of Congress.
This fair is designed to introduce San Diego area high school
students to many of the local high tech companies.
