| World
History is offered in two coures: World HIstory 1C
and World History 2C. Students are required to take
both courses to receive credit. Many students believe
world history is very removed from the world today,
but this is untrue. Students will learn about events
from the past that are still effecting the lives of
many people in the world today.
The
textbook used for the two courses are World History:
Connections to Today.
All
Social Studies courses in the HOP are primarily in the
independent study setting. Students who are studying
the same course are often brought together by the teacher
for mini lectures, assistance with timed writings and
activities. The teacher and teacher's assitant are always
available for one on one help and guidance.
Each
week a set amount of work needs to be completed in order
to finish the course within the nine week quarter grading
period. Along with daily textbook readings and textbook
work, timed writings and projects are also to be completed.
If a student falls behind quickly and cannot catch up,
they are on the path to failing the course.
Students
will receive a Course Assignment Sheet
which includes all assignments including tests, timed
writings, projects and map activities as well as a pace
schedule of when assignments should be completed and
turned in. All assignments are given a point value.
The class is based on points possible.
