Installation of a Lift Kit on a Four Wheel Drive Truck

Project Description: My project consisted of researching and learning about vehicle, specifically trucks, suspension and how to modify them to make them more off-road worthy. I successfully installed a lift kit on my 1988 Toyota 4 wheel drive truck, which now, performs much better in off-road conditions.

Connection to Paper: The relationship between my project and my paper is that my project was to lift my truck for improved off-road capabilities, while my paper was on vehicle safety. The relation between the two is when you lift a vehicle; you change the dynamics and center of gravity on the vehicle, altering its performance on routine driving around town and freeway. My specific vehicle is a 4-wheel drive, which comes stock 4” taller than the 2 wheel drive models of that time. I added another 4” of lift, and this alters the center of gravity and changes the handling of the truck.
