Benefits to UCSD School of
Medicine

The SEPA Grant has brought some benefits to the Medical School at
the University of California, San Diego.
- Interaction between Medical school faculty
and normal high school students has been an eye opener for the
doctors involved. This has increased awareness of the issues and
barriers involved with increasing minority involvement in the
health care professions.
- That same interaction has also confirmed
them of the importance of working with these youth and reconfirmed
belief in the potential of these same students.
- Participation in this grant has expanded
the normal circle of relationships and broadened perspectives on
possibilities for helping others in new ways.
- The funds from this grant have helped
support highly gifted poeple in a setting where their skills can
benefit society instead of dedicating time to more lucretive
private practice.
