Course Objectives |
| This class
will give you an opportunity to explore a wide range
of art experiences. We will learn to create, analyze,
research, critique and propose art works. I firmly believe
that art techniques and creativity are teachable skills
and not just talent, therefore I have designed this
course to enhance and forster these skills. Daily drawings,
journal writings, creative creative questioning, technical
demonstrations, visual examples, preliminary sketching,
art vocabulary, art history, oral presentations, and
many other kinds of exercises will be provided. Each
project will have an Art Element as its focus to teach
the basic ideas in the creation of visual art. |

Attendance |
| Students must
be in their seat and ready for class when the tardy
bell rings. At that time, the door will be closed and
those not inside will be required to go immediately
to "lockout". If a student is in the room
but not in their seat when the tardy bell rings, they
will be marked late on the roll sheet. Students are
allowed up to five absences a term, any absences over
this must be made up in Saturday School, or for extended
illness or personal necessity a Attendance Contract
can be arranged with the counseling center. Students
are responsible for making up any missed work due to
absences. Please let me know in advance of an upcoming
absence, so I can arrange some makeup work you can use
to keep yourself current in the class projects. |
| 3.
Seating Assignment |
| A permanent
seating arrangement will be made for each student. Students
are required to sit in their seat when the bell rings,
roll will be taken from this chart and students will
be marked absent if they are not where they belong.
The teacher reserves the right to change the seating
assignment at anytime. If a student is encountering
a problem with their seating arrangement please come
and discuss the matter with me and an attempt will be
made to create a better location. |
| 4.
Grading |
Students are graded on daily drawings, art
projects, quizzes, written projects, homework, and
finals. Each will be given a letter grade and a correspondings
number of points. Art Projects will be graded on the
following criteria:
30% Following Directions
30% Craftsmanship
30% Originality
10% Work Habits
Students must pass the art standards in order
to pass the class. These standards will be given to
you in more detail later. Extra credit will be available
to add points to your total. Work turned in late will
be reduced 10% off the point total, and will not be
accepted past the term presented. Please remain on
task, work turnedd in late will have higher expectiations.
At the end of each grading quarter a letter grade
will be tabulated as a percentage of total possible
points:
A 100-90%
B 89-80%
C 79-70%
