Parent Volunteers

PTSA Involvement

There are many opportunities for parents to get involved with PTSA and the school.  PTSA programs include Campus Pride, Community Involvement, District Advisory Council, Founder's Day, Grad Night, Health & Safety, Human Relations, Hospitality, Legislation, Outreach, Parent Education, Reflections and SAT Preparation.  And while there are still openings to serve on the Board, there are also a variety of ways you can help out at Helix for single events.  Parents and community members are a key ingredient in keeping our students connected to school.  PTSA involvement is also a great way to keep the lines of communication open between the home and the school.  For more information on how you can be a part of our Scottie Pride, please contact us at 644-1940 ext.214

Parent Involvement

The Effective Parent Partnerships Coordinator, Dave Watkins, with the assistance of parents and PTSA has designed two unique programs: the Parent Volunteer Program where parents and staff work comfortably together, and the Helix Community Outreach Program where staff come to parents in the form of community meetings and home visits. To volunteer, call Dave Watkins, 644-1940 ext. 398.

Helix Community Outreach Program (H.C.O.P.)

H.C.O.P. consists of community-based town-hall meetings where teachers (and other community resource people) meet with parents at least monthly at various locations throughout the “Helix” community to discuss, inform, communicate, relate, etc. The other main part of H.C.O.P. provides home visitation to those students and parents who feel that such a visit would be valuable.
