Service Learning
Service learning is the concept that students learn by doing
service. In the case of this SEPA project, the service our students
will perform is to teach their topic of interest to an identified
audience of younger or peer aged students. In order to teach that
topic, they must learn about the issues involved and use considerable
thought as to the best method to convey that topic. If that method
requires the production of some multi-media audio-visual, then the
students will have a reason to learn how to make the presentation.
Service learning places the student in a position where the reason to
learn is very obvious and thus reduces mental barriers to learning.
