Welcome to Helix Charter High School's After School Program Guide to Social Studies Courses!

The following informaiton will assist in understanding the mission and objectives of the Helix Opportunity Program.

Description of Social Studies Courses:

The HOP provides Social Studies courses needed for graduation through the 11th grade level.

These include: Life Management Skills, Geography, World History and US History.

Mission of Program:

The Helix Opportunity Program (HOP) is an afternoon educational program designed to allow students to receive valuable work experience while continuing their education in a self-paced environment. Students will take a minimum of two core academic courses in the afternoon (3:00 pm to 6:15 pm) and during the morning hours have a job or internship/volunteer position.

The HOP offers three core academic courses: English, Math and Social Studies. Students may also be enrolled in another core course, Science, if there is room available and the student needs remediation.

The HOP acknowledges that a student's education is a responsibility shared by the student, parent(s)/guardian(s), teacher(s) and the entire school community. All parties must be invested in the growth of the student academically, personally, and socially.
