Baseball Clinic

Being involved with baseball himself for quite some time Brian Ricard held a Baseball Clinic as his Senior Project. The Clinic was held on the Helix baseball field, which Brian also took the time to clean-up. So, not only did he have a clinic but he also made the baseball field look much better by putting up a fence for a new dugout, removing weeds from the field and leveling the field.

Fellow Helix Baseball teammates were made available to assist Brian throughout his Clinic, making sure all the kids received the help they needed to learn new Baseball tactics. Brian enjoyed teaching the kids how to play baseball the best because it gave him the chance to be a coach to those younger than him and it felt good to share his knowledge with them. The only thing he could have changed to be more satisfied with the outcome would be to do more planning and less procrastinating. Yet, overall the Clinic was a success and the kids involved learned a lot about baseball.

Soccer Clinic (top)

Beginning towards the end of the summer, Francesca Gonzales prepared for her senior project of putting on a soccer clinic for young girls. The team in Casa De Oro was called the Green Vipers. Francesca chose to coach a youth soccer team because she "loves children and believes she has a lot of soccer skills to pass on to the younger children." Playing soccer for over fourteen years Francesca Gonazales was highly able to teach the players and did it with no cost to them. So, for no price the girls not only received free soccer lessons but also a great role model.

Francesca Gonzales coached the Green Vipers, a young set of girls doing what they love to do the most, play soccer.

These soccer players are only thinking about one thing, getting the ball, as they run fiercely to try and get it.

Football Mentoring (top)

As CIF champions, football is a very important aspect of Helix Charter and it brings spirit upon everyone schoolwide. Well known football player Reggie Bush knows football best so it made sense for his senior project to be mentoring for football. The freshmen football team was mentored weekly throughout the football season. With the help of fellow football teammates Reggie was able to organize mentoring meetings with all frosh football players.

With the project to last throughout the football season, the project was one of much time consumption and demands. Yet, it paid off for the freshmen football players for they already looked up to the Varsity players but now also had another reason to look up to them. With varsity players giving them tips and any necessary advice, the freshmen boys can hope to make it to the CIF championships just as the 2001 and 2002 Varsity football players accomplished.
