ASB Leadership

In January 2003, during Winter Break, Nick Norvell and Lauren Ornelas organized the Associated Student Body Leadership Camp. The annual camps purpose is to give the new class an opportunity out of school to get to know each other. Most importantly, the camp teaches the students necessary leadership skills to improve ASB.

The camp was held a couple of miles from Julian with a guest speaker who challenged the students through team building games. Lauren Ornelas feels that, "the schools ASB was able to gain more knowledge on leadership skills such as working with one another and realizing their importance to the entire student body."

Seniors ending their ASB year attend the ASB camp to advise the new students and chaperone.

Diversity Camp (top)

Diversity. One word which causes various thoughts yet for Senior Sqy Ferguson it inspired a wonderful camp at Lemon Grove Middle School with the purpose to teach kids about diversity and eliminating racism, bias and prejudice in the community. The Senior Project began in October and was finalized in the month of January.

The consultant for the project was Mr. Chris Walsh, Lemon Grove Middle Schools social worker. Before working with the students Sqy had to attend several days of training. Sqy was excited for "having a chance to educate the students about diversity because it is all around and can make the community better through education." The diversity camp overall was a great experience not only for those involved but also the senior charge of putting it on.

After a day of many activities the Lemon Grove Middle students stop and smile for the camera.
