A Workshop for the Artists of the Future

The Kindergarten class at Vista La Mesa Elementary received a huge treat in November when Eloisa Valenzuela presented art activities including drawing and painting. After two weeks of training she was prepared to teach the young children about visual arts. Eloisa enjoys art very much and therefore wanted to share her passion for it with younger children. She strongly believes that, "it is important to integrate the arts in our educational system because society benefits from this and most importantly our youth."

The only thing Eloisa would change about her project would be to have more time to spend with the children. The children enjoyed the art lesson and amongst the group may be one of the Great Artists of the Future.

Eloisa walks the students through their first art project.
The children repeat the steps they see their instructor do as they learn to paint a rainbow using many colors.

Safety Lesson for Children (top)

In society these days it is extremely important for children to know all the aspects of being safe. Chrissy Soverns understands the importance and therefore decided to teach a class to the second graders of Rolando Elementary for her Senior Project. The lesson consisted mainly on safety when the children are walking alone. The Children and children's parents benefited from the project immensely. Chrissy worked very well with the children and they began to look forward to her visits with them. She is "satisfied with her project because working with children left a positive impact."

These two girls are working together as one is tying  a special bracelet onto the other.
This little girl poses for a picture while learning how to be safe when walking home.
Making arts and crafts were just some of the fun ways Chrissy Soverns taught the safety class.
